The Young People’s Collective (YPC) meet weekly to co-create projects that correspond directly with the Dundee’s V&A exhibitions. We are currently working on a project in response to the upcoming ‘Design & Disability exhibition.

“Design and Disability will open on 4 June 2026. Originally developed at V&A South Kensington, this exhibition will highlight the radical contributions of disabled, deaf and neurodivergent people to design and culture from the 1940s to the present day.”

January – March 2025 Project:

Young Peoples Collective’
Art Installation at V&A Dundee.

This 12 project with Dundee’s V&A came about in response to the museum’s exhibition ‘A Fragile Correspondence’ in March 2025. Below is an overview of the experience we gained through participating in this project.

‘A Fragile Correspondence’ Project Overview:

I joined the YPC at the beginning of 2025 to contribute to this 12 week project creating an art installation that resonated with the museum’s ‘A Fragile Correspondence’ exhibition. This particular project gave us an opportunity to learn about, and make our own response to the museum’s exhibition.

Throughout the project we had the opportunity to participate in workshops with artists and curators and to hear about some of their artistic processes first hand on a site visit to Ravenscraig. In response we decided to create something interactive for visitors to engage with. This led us to work with ‘Soul of Fire’ going from tree to charcoal to make drawing materials that we could use for our installation.

Our reflection of stewardship within the natural landscape culminated in March 2025 with an interactive mural installation that prompted some wonderful conversations about how we engage with nature. It was an absolute pleasure to be part of this iteration of the collective and consider art, design and audience interaction in a whole different way to my usual game development practice.
