DARE!
Dare Academy is an annual Games Design competition open to Abertay University students in teams of up to 8.
From the many applicants, only six teams are selected to receive industry mentoring, support and advice to aid them in creating an Industry Standard game prototype.
The mentoring takes place over a month during the summer term break. Students continue developing the game leading up to their presentation at the annual EGX in London. From the six finalists, one overall winner is selected.

The Winning Team
Of the six finalists, overall winners were Triple 7 Studios with their game ‘Left Upon Read’, a clever blend of contemporary internet humour and dark fantasy.
Players step into the role of knight, battling a horde of aquatic monsters and answering a stream of urgent, incoming text messages whilst on a mission to rescue a princess.
A well deserved win! “Left Upon Read” is a fantastic game from a wonderful team! It’s been a privilege to watch the game progress from the very first pitch back in February.
